Brass Monkey

A ground-breaking five-piece band incorporating trumpet and trombone as well as squeezeboxes, mouth organ, percussion and guitar, Brass Monkey had a short but glittering career in the mid-'80s. A decade later the almost-original lineup of Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick, Howard Evans, Richard Cheetham and Martin Brinsford reunited to make Sound & Rumour, which heralded the start of the second phase of their career. When Richard moved to the States in 2002 Roger returned to the fold. After Howard's untimely death in 2006 they worked as a 4 piece for a while, but were joined in 2009 by Paul Archibald and in 2012 by Shane Brennan.

The London Banqueting Ensemble

Octandre Ensemble

The Octandre Ensemble is a flexible collective of London-based musicians co-founded by composer Christian Mason and conductor Jonathan Hargreaves. Taking its name from Varese's seminal work, the ensemble is dedicated to exploring the energy of sounds, and the webs of ideas that form around them. With a growing reputation for their carefully conceived concerts and unified/integrated events, they were recently featured as ensemble in residence at the York Spring Festival of New Music in May 2012.
